When we showed up at Lena's Wine Bar around 7pm, it was empty. The waitress joked that we could pick any spot in the bar. We sat right near the window. Not even 5 minutes later, the place was packed. The wine selection was good and the ambiance was a friendly, local wine bar. You could make it romantic if you want to or you can make it super casual for a group. We were happy with the taste and prices of their wines. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the neighborhood.
One of the best cocktail bars I have been to. Their menu is really cool. You select your flavors and then they can recommend which spirit goes best or you can order your favorite. A new take on a cocktail menu. The downstairs had some really great and comfortable seating. The upstairs had some big tables, but the place was packed when we went. It would have been impossible to snag one of those.
Picture this: you are walking around the streets of Manhattan and you stumble upon this bar. As you enter, you are transported to an outdoor, Island vibe. If this sounds like something you'd like, you need to check out Gilligan's. It was a really cool scene. We all ordered the Frozen Watermelon Margarita and it was exactly what we needed. I should mention, I went to this bar during the Summer. It was perfect.
Do you ever walk past a place 100 times before you actually stop by? This was us and Cotenna. This restaurant sat on our old block and finally, a week before we moved, we got to go. The quality of food was amazing. We sat outside and the ambiance was not as nice as it could have been. The food was exquisite, but the portions were a little small. I ordered one of the specials: Truffle Gnocchi. I thought it was divine and I was full after eating my meal. Overall, it was a great meal and we were very satisfied. Since there are so many Italian restaurants in the city, I am not sure we will ever return.
When I went to this restaurant, it was still in the height of Covid -- before mask mandates and vaccination requirements were removed. We sat outside and the seating was not very comfortable. It was a bench setup and every time someone moved, you felt it. That is really my only negative thought about the experience. The menu all looked so delicious and it did not disappoint. The cocktails were also quite delicious. I would definitely go back and sit inside. They have a gorgeous patio setup.
From the outside, this place looks like a really cool, retro themed bar. When we first got there, the vibes were good. The music, the drinks, the location was all perfect. It was almost like it was too good to be true. Fast forward an hour, it was. There were some unfriendly characters who are friends with the bartenders. If they don't like you, your drinks somehow are made without alcohol, unwanted stares are shared across the room, and they may even pretend to close down the bar (only to ask you to leave). It was one of the weirdest & worst endings to a night ever. The reason these groupies didn't like us? I was not willing to share my boyfriend. Some service. I would not recommend.
Did you know there is a winery in NYC? I did not before this Summer. We went to Rooftop Reds in Brooklyn and were pleasantly surprised. Finding the rooftop is a little unnerving because it is in the Navy Yards. You will feel like you are lost, but trust the process! Once you get up to the roof, it is like a dream. There are vines and cute picnic tables. We ordered some flights so we could try a few types of the wines. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The day we selected happened to be in the high nineties with a sprinkle of thunderstorms. Needless to say, check the weather before you go to a rooftop. We had fun running from the raindrops anyways!
I was very excited to find The Warren with an open table on a Friday night. I had been walking past it frequently because it is right next to the PATH station. The ambiance was such a shift from The White Horse Tavern where we were earlier. We sat inside because we were freezing from the sidewalk wind, but each table had dividers and was significantly far apart. We ordered our drinks and some sweet potato fries. I am not going to lie, they were some of the best fries I had ever had. The drinks were delicious and unique. I will definitely be returning for dinner.
A very cool spot. They have a lot of outdoor seating that varies from inside a fixture with heated lamps to outside subject to the wind without a heated lamp. You could guess which one we had. We felt very lucky to even get a seat after walking around asking places for almost an hour. After we sat down, the staff was very kind. I felt they were nicer than usual. We ordered our drinks and some guacamole. I ordered a Paloma that had more of a bitter taste than normal. The guacamole was delicious. It may have been the highlight of our time if we weren't interrupted by a marching band playing music. They added so much to the vibe on the sidewalk. I wish there were more traveling musicians to liven up our sad Covid Friday nights out. The one big downside of the White Horse Tavern is that their drinks are weak. I would go back for the ambiance or for dinner, but never again to get drinks.
A great bar to drink with friends in the West Village. It is a rum bar, but they serve all types of alcohol. Their outdoor seating is heated and can seat groups easily. Their menu had a lot of options to choose from and their decoration was themed and cute. This spot has happy hour until 8pm everyday. We will have to go back to try some of their creative rum drinks!
A great date night bar in the West Village. The ambiance was exactly as the internet described: dark, candlelit, in a basement. The drinks were a little expensive, but they were worth it. I ordered a Tom Collins and it was delicious, big, and strong. If I am going to pay for a drink, it cannot disappoint and LB's Tom Collins definitely did not.
Located near NYU, you will find a lot of students at this pub. There are a lot of tables to sit at and an endless offering of beer from around the world. If you go to this bar frequently, you should ask for one of their punch cards. There are different types of beer you have to try and at the end of the card, you get a free beer and the next card. Once you have completed all three rounds, your name will be put on their wall. Last time we went, I was so hungry, we tried a lot of items on the menu. I was not disappointed with any of them.
